On 26 May 1825, a "Living Guana Grous [from] South America" donated by W. [E.] Whelan was entered in the Peale Museum Accessions Book (Historical Society of Pennsylvania, coll. 0481).
Notes:
The identity of the "Guana Grous" is uncertain. However, many of the South American specimens at Peale’s Museum originated near Cayanne, French Guiana, where five species of tinamous have been recorded.
