On 10 October 1827, a specimen of "Falco rufipes" was donated by Charles Lucien Bonaparte (1803-1857) according to the Peale Museum Accessions Book (Historical Society of Pennsylvania, coll. 0481).

Notes:

Charles Lucien Bonaparte (1803-1857) was a French-born ornithologist who worked in Philadelphia from 1824-1827, where he was a member of the American Philosophical Society (APS) and Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP).
