Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827) wrote, in his 16th Lecture (ca. 1799): "No. 140. Parrakeet tovi. Plumage green; an orange spot on the throat; native of South America. Psittacus tovi. Linn. Petite perruche a gorge jaune d'amerique Buff. pl. 190. The length is 6 ¾ inches." (Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University Archives, coll. 40)
