Alexander Wilson (1766-1813) wrote to "Mr. Rubens Peale / Museum" dated "Philadelphia, Thursday 22 [November] 1810", in which he wrote: "A. Wilson's Compts. To Mr. Peale with a specimen of … a new species of Motacilla which I have called the Tennesee Warbler. / A number of other things are in reservation for Mr. Peale—My young friend the bearer will be gratified with a peep at the wonder of the Museum." (Hunter 1983: 376, Life and Letters of Alexander Wilson, Memoirs of the American Philosophical Society). Rubens Peale (1784-1865) was manager of the museum at that time.
