Charles Willson Peale (1741-1827) wrote, in his 20th Lecture (ca. 1799): "402. Olive Creeper. The most conspicuous colour of its plumage is a deep and very brilliant violet, which spreads below the neck, and on the throat; the rest of the under side of the body is a fine yellow; wings and tail of a dull olive; under the wings and the legs white; the bill & feet Black; the top of the head in some lights reflects green. Certhia Zeylonica Linn. Grimpereau olive des Philippines Buff. pl. enl. 576. f. 4. The colouring not exact." (Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University Archives, coll. 40)
